About The Exchange Community - TEC

The fifth annual Wdesk user conference will be held in San Diego.
TEC brings together Wdesk users, financial reporting and accounting professionals, thought leaders, and Workiva employees for three days of intensive Wdesk training and professional development. Attendees will get the chance to network, share best practices, and discuss industry trends all while earning CPE credits. Sessions at The Exchange Community address subject matter in the following areas:

May Hng
Head of Internal Audit, Bel Fuse Inc.
May Hng
For the past 10 years, May Hng has led a global internal audit team for a U.S. public company, with a priority in ensuring that the company is in compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX). In short, she eats, sleeps, and breathes SOX. In 2015, her team started utilizing Wdesk to convert all SOX-related work papers into electronic formats. Since then, she has vowed never to return to hard copies again.
Prior to that, she was in internal audit for six years for a multibillion dollar U.S. company with worldwide manufacturing operations. She and the rest of the internal audit team were awarded the President’s Award for a successful 2004 global SOX implementation. It was a year full of stress, angst, and nightmares, which she can now happily laugh about. May graduated from the University of South Alabama with a master's degree in accounting. She is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Anita Chakravarthy
SVP – Finance, Wintrust Financial Corporation
Anita Chakravarthy
Anita Chakravarthy is the SVP of Finance at Wintrust Financial Corporation, a financial holding company with assets of approximately $25 billion. She has an extensive background in the financial services industry, with an emphasis in capital planning, stress testing, leading cross-functional business teams, and overseeing technology projects.
Anita joined Wintrust in 2010 to create a loss-share agreement compliance reporting function. Currently she is leading a multimillion dollar project, which includes process improvement as well as the implementation of a new software system along with data integration touching all parts of the organization. She also serves on Wintrust’s Enterprise Data Governance Committee.
Prior to joining Wintrust, Anita spent over 10 years in progressive managerial finance roles at firms including HSBC and United Airlines. She earned her bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Mumbai, India and is slated to complete her executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University in December of 2016.

Jonathan Bubb
Jonathan Bubb, Head of Document Production, Group Financial Reporting at HSBC, is leading the global rollout of Wdesk for financial and regulatory reporting. This three-year program will conclude with Wdesk being used for all of the bank's major financial statements. A document production center of excellence is being established in India to provide the heart of a global, Wdesk-based operating model that will deliver efficiencies through common processes and standards.

John Van Decker
John E. Van Decker is Vice President, Corporate Performance Management and Financial Management Systems at Gartner Inc. In this role, he looks after all CFO-related research. Van Decker focuses on how to bring a technology solution into an enterprise, including software, services, and change management required to achieve business value. Throughout his 23-year career, he has worked with both IT and finance organizations as a user, developer, and implementer of financial management and operational applications. Van Decker has held positions that bought, sold, and researched financial management technologies, giving him a unique perspective as a Gartner industry analyst.

Carey Lohrenz
Carey Lohrenz knows what it takes to excel in one of the highest-pressure, extreme environments imaginable—in the cockpit at Mach 2. As the first female F-14 Tomcat Fighter Pilot in the U.S. Navy, having flown missions worldwide as a combat mission-ready pilot, Lohrenz is used to working in fast-moving, dynamic environments where inconsistent execution can generate catastrophic results. The same challenges are found in business: markets change, customer needs evolve—and if you do not adapt quickly, your company is at risk. She is uniquely qualified in the fundamentals of winning under pressure, reducing errors, and overcoming obstacles.

Amy Cuddy
Amy Cuddy is known around the world for her 2012 TED Talk, "Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are," which is the second-most viewed talk in TED’s history. A Harvard Business School professor and social psychologist, Cuddy studies how nonverbal behavior and snap judgments influence people. Her research has been published in top academic journals and covered by NPR, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Wired, Fast Company, and more. Cuddy has been named a Game Changer by TIME, a Rising Star by the Association for Psychological Science, one of 50 Women Who Are Changing the World by Business Insider, and a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
